Jesus Levels The Wall

Writer's picture: The King's TableThe King's Table

Ephesians 3 - The Apostle Paul, on house arrest in Rome, was able to write the prison Epistles, one being Ephesians. A low wall separated the Gentile Court from the Temple enclosure itself. No Gentile was permitted past this dividing wall. “No Entry” signs were posted on the wall in three different languages. In fact, one of these signs in stone has been found and is in a museum in Turkey. It reads, “No foreigner is allowed past this point on penalty of death”.

The Apostle Paul in Acts 21 took a Greek man past this barrier causing a riot, and in Ephesians 2:14-15 he describes Jesus Himself as “our Peace who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall.” No wonder Paul was always in trouble!! ONLY BY BEING IN CHRIST can the dividing wall between God and man, and man and man, be torn down. A very relevant word for TODAY!!
