Having An Undivided Heart

Writer's picture: The King's TableThe King's Table

Psalm 86 This prayer is so special – the Lord is all throughout it . . .David used “Adonai” seven times, “Yahweh” four times, and “Elohim” five times. Literally just about every verse. David knew Who to go to for help – the One who is his Master; the One who has no beginning and no end; the One whom everything relies on and is constant, the One who is always present, accessible and near to those who call on Him. The One who is great, sovereign, almighty and powerful. In times of trouble, who do you go to???

In Psalm 86:11-13, the words “UNDIVIDED HEART” really stood out to me. Lord I pray that this longing, this cry would be on our lips every day. Our hearts are so easily distracted, dulled and divided. Forgive us Lord for our inconsistent, half-hearted, lukewarm devotion to You. We ask like David for our hearts to be united for one purpose . . . to praise You with all that we are and all that we have . . . to worship You with an affectionate reverence . . . to love you with all our hearts.

Because of You, Jesus, we can humbly and boldly say, GREAT is the love of God toward us! You proved that on the cross. Your love is amazing, unfailing, extravagant, completely perfect. Father give us an UNDIVIDED HEART that we may honor You, praise you with all of our hearts and glorify Your AMAZING Name forever!!! In Jesus' Name, AMEN!!!
