Happy New Year!!!!! GENESIS 33 and LUKE 15:20 - Jacob comes expecting the worst. Bringing gifts hoping to earn Esau's favor and to somehow make up for how he has hurt his brother. We often do this with God. We try to earn His favor. We try to earn His forgiveness. We try to earn His righteousness. We come to Him afraid of His anger and condemnation. And, all the while, our heavenly Father is just waiting for us to humbly come to Him, seeking His forgiveness. He RUNS to us! He cannot wait to embrace and bless us. God is never described in the Bible as being in a hurry, except in the parable of the Prodigal Son. The Father could not wait to give his wayward son, the ring representing the authority and power in the Name of Jesus to walk in dominion over sin and darkness every day; the robe, representing His gift of righteousness and our restored position as sons and daughters and co-heirs with Christ; and the sandals, only servants went about barefoot – we are not hired servants – we are His children!!
What a great God! If you have run away from God, if you are always trying to earn His favor and forgiveness – STOP. Just come to Him humbly, ASK for His forgiveness, turn back to Him. He is waiting with open and loving arms!!!
